Kelantan needs about RM7bil in tenth plan

PASIR PUTEH: Kelantan requires an allocation of not less than RM7bil for poverty-eradication development projects and to provide basic facilities in the rural areas under the Tenth Malaysia Plan (10MP).

State Umno liasion chief Datuk Mustapa Mohamed said under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP), the federal government had approved an allocation of over RM7bil for Kelantan.

“We hope that under the 10MP, the federal government will allocate more or at least RM7bil to speed up development in Kelantan,” he told reporters after opening a Juara Rakyat (People’s Champion) programme at the Pasir Puteh parliamentary constituency level in Kampung Air Tawar, Tok Bali, here, late Sunday evening.

More than 1,000 residents from the four state constituencies of Limbongan, Semerak, Gaal and Selising participated in the event which was also attended by Pasir Puteh Umno division chief Zawawi Othman.

In conjunction with the event, 63 people including the disabled, farmers, petty traders and the poor received aid totalling over RM1mil from various federal government departments and agencies to lessen their financial burden. -- Bernama
