KOTA BARU: Pas' suggestion for the party and Umno to be dissolved and a new party formed to unite all Malays has found favour with People's Progressive Party president Datuk M. Kayveas.
Kayveas said the recent proposal by Pas spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat was sound but it should be extended further to change the country's political scenario.
He said the country had reached a stage where people were mature enough to accept a two-party system.
"I know the leaders will not like the idea of relinquishing their party posts. For myself, I don't mind being given other posts like a seat in the supreme council or being a committee member," he said before a meet-the-people session at Kelantan Golf and Country Club here yesterday.
Kayveas said the result of the recent general election showed the people were not as racially-biased as before.
"Voters no longer vote along racial lines but choose the ones they want to lead, irrespective of race," he said.
